Jamie Oliver, Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies and comedian Armando Iannucci will give keynote speeches at this year’s Edinburgh International Television Festival.
Celebrity cook Oliver will give the Richard Dunn Memorial lecture at the event this August, while The Thick of It writer Iannucci will talk about his views on the future of broadcasting.
The highlights for the festival, which will run from August 22-24, were announced today and will also include master-class events led by Welsh writer and Doctor Who executive producer Russell T Davies, and Tim Kring, the creator of hit US show Heroes.
Style guru Gok Wan will present a special version of How to Look Good Naked while comedian Jimmy Carr will host a live episode of Channel 4’s 8 out of 10 Cats quiz show during the festival.
Andrew MacKenzie, the festival’s advisory chairman and head of factual entertainment at Channel Four, said: “We’re delighted to be able to launch [the festival] with such an exciting line up.
“I think this year’s festival has something for everyone – policymakers, creative talent and celebrity stalkers. It comes at a crucial time in the debate over the future of public service television. But is also a showcase of some of British and World television’s greatest creative forces.”
