Chris Hines has dedicated over 30 years to environmental advocacy, driving significant change and inspiring others. He co-founded Surfers Against Sewage in 1990, serving as its Director until 2000. During his tenure, the group was celebrated by the BBC as one of the government’s most adept environmental critics and hailed as "Britain's coolest pressure group" by The Independent. Their efforts led to substantial environmental advancements.

Following this, Chris spent five years as the Sustainability Director at the Eden Project. Here, he pioneered 'Waste Neutral', an innovative approach to the circular economy, and was instrumental in integrating sustainable business practices across the organisation, centred on the triple bottom line.

His contributions have extended to giving evidence in the UK Parliament, advising on key commissions, and briefing European leaders. His expertise has been featured across major media outlets, including the BBC World Service and CNN.

In recognition of his service to the environment, Chris was honoured with an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2008 and received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Plymouth.

Chris has shared his insights with diverse audiences, from Accenture and Comic Relief to international conferences and educational institutions. He continues to advocate for sustainable business practices through various advisory roles, including with the BBC’s Sustainability Advisory Group.

Committed to leveraging business as a catalyst for positive change, Chris focuses on strategic planning, communications, and leadership, embodying the principle that businesses can thrive while contributing positively to society.
