Jo Brand Biography

One of the finest comediennes' on the stand up circuit, she is a great choice for any event particularly for those live corporate events that need that extra bite!

How Jo Brand's Following was Built

Born in Kent, Jo's first job was at Dr Barnardo's home, following in the footsteps of her mother, a social worker. After this, she moved to London and became a psychiatric nurse. Dealing on a daily basis with drug addicts, alcohol abuse and the clinically depressed, it was her sense of humour that kept her going

Since leaving her job as a psychiatric nurse in 1987, Jo has built a large following across the UK, male and female alike. She was nominated for the Perrier Award in 1992.  Her "Through the Cakehole" series met with great acclaim, as did her 1996 series "All the Way to Worcester".

Diverse Appeal

Her diverse appeal is marked by appearances on such eclectic programmes as "Question Time" (BBC) to "Nevermind the Buzzcocks" and "Countdown" to "They Think It's All Over". She presented "Jo Brand's Commercial Breakdown" and her series, "Jo Brand's Hot Potatoes" was very well received. Jo has written two irreverent books "A Load of Old Balls" and "A Load of Old Ball Crunchers", about leading men and women of history as well as other books such as "It's Different for Girls".
