With so little nutritional reserves, the survivors pinned all their hopes on being rescued.  However, on the tenth day, they heard on the one radio transistor, that the search had finished.  Living with the desperation and impossible physical conditions at 4,500 meters of height, with temperatures of 30º C below zero, a society with perfect forms of leadership developed.

In total desperation, with an absence of food and their endurance exhausted, the survivors were forced to feed themselves off their dead companions, so they could be able to continue to live.   Finally, unable to cope with the lowest temperatures, the threatening avalanches, distressed by the continuous death of their companions, and the slow delay of the rescue, Nando Parrado decided to cross the huge mountains to arrive to Chile.

The sixteen survivors, who beat death in the Cordillera de los Andes, survived 72 days in the most appalling conditions.   One of the most important odysseys of survival in our time, but also an inspired call to businessmen and businesswoman alike to transform their actions in the face the challenges of today's turbulent times.

The extraordinary history of Nando Parrado has been carved of an absolutely normal life. His achievements are a powerful testimony to his attitude of survival. A life quickly transformed, since after an incredible physical and mental recovery... after losing his mother and sister in the accident and undergoing a fracture of skull of Coma 4... he recovers, helps, leads, decides and escapes through the mountains. Nando crossed the Andes along with his friend Roberto and thanks to this, his history and the histories of others can be shared.
