As excitement grows throughout the world for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the draw for the finals took place on Friday 9th December 2006 in Leipzig, Germany.
England are happy with their group which puts them in a group with Sweden, Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago. The highlight of the first round draw will pit two of the favourites for the tournament, Holland and Argentina, against each other. If the draw goes as per seedings, England are due to meet Brazil in the semi-final and what a game that would be!
One of Speakers Corner speakers and a World Cup Legend, Geoff Hurst was present at the draw in Leipzig. Some of the pundits involved in the World Cup in 2006 include Alan Hansen, John Inverdale and Gabby Logan.
