Businessman, designer and keynote speaker Alberto Alessi speaks to the Independent about his background, family and his plans for the future.
Although design is his passion and his business is thriving, Alessi dreams of success in his latest venture, his wine business.
He is also curator of the 'Dream Factories' exhibition at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
Born in the little town of Omegna, just north of Milan, Alberto grew up surrounded by creativity and design.
His father Carlo, a designer and entrepreneur was the second generation in the family to enter the business. In the Forties he designed the Bombé Tea and Coffee set, which is still in production and is one of Alessi’s most successful items. His mother came from the Bialetti family - the most important Italian producers of coffee machines.
Alessi lives with his family in the middle of a vineyard, facing Lake Orta, minutes from his childhood home.
