Former England cricket captain Alec Stewart writes on the BBC Sport website that India has a right to exploit their home advantage when they play a test match against England on their own turf.
Stewart addresses the criticism that India has faced for choosing not to field any spinners in their 'A' team in England’s test match in Mumbai, but he believes that the home side can and should do exactly what they wish.
“India's tactics are nothing new,” said Stewart. “It used to happen whenever we toured Australia. Just before going to Brisbane for the first Test match, where it is hot and humid and the pitch bounces, you would play your last warm-up game in Tasmania, where it is often cold and damp and the ball keeps low. India are using common sense to maximise their home advantage.”
