Brazil is Ready for the World Cup 2014

11th June 2014

The World Cup 2014 begins tomorrow in Brazil and the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has said that her country is prepared for the tournament despite allegations that they would crumble under the pressure.

Brazil has received a lot of criticism over the amount of money spent on the World Cup; however President Rousseff has defended their expenditure saying that ‘the tournament would leave a lasting legacy of infrastructure’.

There is still fear over whether Brazil will perform to the standard expected when the World Cup Starts, currently Metro strikes are threatening to disrupt the opening game in Sao Paolo. Ricardo Trade is the head of the World Cup local organising committee and he stated that the strikes would be a ‘nightmare’ but the authorities are prepared and ‘inside the stadium it will be a show...Brazil will deliver.’

In reaction to the pessimistic views surrounding the World Cup, President Rousseff stated that ‘the World Cup accounts are being meticulously scrutinised by the country's auditing institutions.’

Football pundit and awards host Gary Lineker is already in Sao Paolo in preparation for the World Cup, he predicts that Argentina will win the tournament. Meanwhile sports presenter, Jim White was in Miami for the England vs Ecuador warm up match.

The World Cup kicks off tomorrow evening in the outskirts of Sao Paolo, where Brazil will play Croatia. If you would like to book a sports speaker/ awards host for a corporate event, call us on 02076077070.
