The BT Sports Industry Awards took place earlier this month at the Battersea Evolution in front of a full room of sporting celebrities and sports industry executives.
The awards were hosted by Martin Bayfield and lots of our favourite sports speakers attended the award ceremony. The winners of the awards were decided by the BT Sports judging panel, which included inspirational speaker Tanni Grey-Thomson.
The awards categories included ‘Best Management of a Sports Person’, ‘Best Use of PR’, ‘Best Integrated Marketing Campaign’ and ‘Brand of the Year’. Rugby player Brian O’Driscoll won the award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Sport’ and ‘The Leadership in Sport Award’ went to Sir Ben Ainslie.
Motivational speaker and former Lions player Will Greenwood, presented Brain O’Driscoll his award and stated ‘I'm unbelievably excited to have the honour to present an award to a player who achieved things mere mortals could only dream of - one of the greatest rugby players there has even been.’
Awards Hosts Jake Humphrey and Kirsty Gallagher presented the ‘Governing Body of the Year Award’ together and they made jokes about the Sky Sports vs. BT Sports rivalry. Some of the well known names that attended the awards included Ade Adepitan, Alastair Campbell and Alex Cuthbert.
