Carol Vorderman, TV presenter and awards host, joined a group of WWII veterans to launch the Bomber Command Memorial Fund's Poppy Salute Appeal in London.
Bee Gee's legend and Chairman of the Heritage Foundation Robin Gibb was also meant to be in attendance but was forced to cancel for personal reasons.
The launch was in celebration of a Memorial which will open in London’s Green Park to honour the 55,573 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives in World War II.
The site is currently under construction but is due to be completed in time for a dedication and unveiling on June 28.
'It gives me great pleasure to know that everything we have been through for three years since we started this campaign for the Bomber Command Memorial is being rewarded,' said Gibb.
