When any speaker gives advice to a politician about how to make political speak and policies more understandable, we at Speakers Corner are always happy to listen.
In this instance, the highly aclaimed speaker Dan Roam has a piece of advice for President Obama in his efforts to explain the benefits of the new health care law - draw pictures.
Dan Roam is ideally placed to give this advice as his company helps business executives solve complex problems through visual thinking
"No matter what our problems area, we can solve them with pictures. I know this is true - I have never seen this fail," Roam said Monday during his keynote speech on the second day of the 2010 Create West Virginia conference at Oglebay Park's Wilson Lodge.
Roam - the best-selling author of the book "The Back of a Napkin: Solving Problems with Pictures" - said he recently tried to read the actual health care reform bill, but struggled to grasp all of the language, which he said consisted of 1,447 pages of nothing but words and bullet points.
