Deirdre Bounds Finds Gold on Dispatches

27th June 2011

Professional Speaker, author and one of the UK's top entrepreneurs Deirdre Bounds goes undercover for Channel 4's Dispatches to investigate gold mining in the UK and how our jewellers mislead us.

Deirdre's forthcoming presenting role highlights her versatility and she is in discussions with a number of companies about future TV work. She is also a regular commentator to BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show, various Radio 5 Live programmes, Daybreak and Sky News. She was also one of eight entrepreneurs chosen by Channel 4 to spend four weeks in Africa bringing enterprise ideas to a poverty stricken Ugandan village.

Proclaimed by the Telegraph as having "the Northern grit and determination that represents the perfect role model for business", this former comedienne, world backpacker, English teacher, outback bus driver, media pundit, author of 'Fulfilled, A Personal Revolution in Seven Steps' and mum of two is a down to earth visionary who set up the ethical travel company i-to-i.com.

In creating her travel company Deirdre drew from her own experiences as a drop out and wayward backpacker. Her aim was to challenge traditional ideas in the travel industry and dare to be different. She is living proof that ethical business and personal success is available to all, regardless of background, gender or race.

Deirdre also made a commitment to giving something back. Through risk and belief she has made travel industry history by changing people's perceptions of the `responsible travel` movement. Her company has assisted in changing the lives of thousands of people and protecting the environment. Deirdre is the Ambassador for Enterprise for Young People in Yorkshire; she is Patron of Marie Curie Cancer Care in West Yorkshire, is a regular speaker for the international aid charity World Vision and financially supports charities that help people who are alcohol dependent.

She offers a number of speeches to inspire, entertain and create energy. A highly sought after professional speaker, she emphasises the importance of self belief and success in both one's personal and business life, and lifts her audiences with her world experience and positive spirit. Her subjects include enterprise and entrepreneurship women in business, motivation, leadership, growth and change and ethics in business.
