As promised Speaker’s Corner will keep you updated on the Edinburgh festival and some of the best acts to go and see according to fellow festival goers.
As we did not have time to see everyone, Speakers Corner asked some festival goers about their favourite shows and we found that there were a few that were popular with the masses. These shows include Abandoman, Out of the Blue Oxford and Phil Nichol.
Abandoman has so far been nominated for two comedy awards at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and has also appeared at a variety of festivals such as Rockness and Bestival. He has also been on Radio 1’s Fun and Filthy Cabaret. Abandoman has the ability to create hilarious freestyle songs within seconds after asking for asking the audiences suggestions. His show has become increasingly popular and has been selling out at this year’s festival.
Out of the Blue Oxford is another stand-out show according to festival goers. OOTB is an all-male a cappella group who are all students and friends from Oxford University and featured on Britains Got Talent 2011. Having just been to see the show one festival goer said “Their voices are amazing and their dances are hilarious and you find yourself singing along to everything. They sing a really eclectic mix of songs so there is something for everyone.”
Two other acts, which appeared to be popular among the crowds, were comedian and entertainer Phil Nichol, who has been performing at the festival for a number of years now. Phil also won the Scotsman Fringe First Winner for ‘Somewhere Beneath It All, a Small Fire Burns’.
If you are going to the festival, we suggest you fit in these acts, also have a look at our Edinburgh festival blog for more Fringe recommendations.
