Spanish restaurant, elBulli, is to become the subject of an art exhibition two years after its closure. A retrospective will open in London to showcase the legendary restaurant.
elBulli dished up masterpieces and also inspired the global trend for molecular gastronomy; it also influenced a generation of chefs including Heston Blumenthal.
The head chef at elBulli’s, Ferrán Adrià spoke about the exhibition, saying “Overall, it is an ode to the creativity, imagination, innovation, talent and teamwork of everyone at elBulli, but especially the world famous chefs who trained with us and took these values into their own restaurants around the world.”
While under the leadership of Ferrán, elBulli, situated in the Catalan town of Roses, was voted the world’s best restaurant five times by Restaurant magazine. elBulli also received more than two million reservations enquiries each summer, while Ferran and his team invented 1,846 dishes using new methods developed in their laboratory.
The Exhibition will be the first dedicated to a chef and his restaurant.
