James Caan is a successful entrepreneur and business keynote speaker and he knows how to make a business stand out. Nowadays a company’s website is the key attraction and he has given some tips on how to get yourself heard on the web.
James’s advice to start-ups is not to be too disheartened in the early stages of setting up a website, as it takes time to drive traffic towards new sites. However he believes there are ways of doing this and the advice he gives is to ‘learn the basics of the search engine optimisation and website analytics.’
He encourages using online guides or a personal tutoring on the ins and outs and he states that ‘it’s important you are ranked as highly as possible on search engines and that the key content on your website is easy to find.’
James promotes the use of email marketing, for example sending out a monthly newsletter ‘with clear incentives for customers to refer you to their family and friends’. Another bit of advice he gives is to ‘form relationships with other websites through affiliate marketing’ and ‘remember that once you have visitors you must engage them and keep the site constantly updated.’
To finish James emphasises the importance of PR, stating ‘don’t forget the basics of PR. Interesting news stories, or perhaps the results of research you have done, can be a good way to attract some press coverage for your business.’
