After successfully (and quite hysterically) presenting the NME Awards 2008, the BRITs seem like a natural progression for the talented duo.
Both James Corden and Matthew Horne have risen through the ranks of comedy, with parts in Teachers, The Catherine Tate Show and many other British favourites, but it was the hit show Gavin and Stacey wriiten by James and Ruth Jones, which really catapulted them into the public eye. The award winning comedy series has opened door into the corporate world for James, and he is now in great demand as an awards host for corporate events.
So, will the cheeky pair be bashful around the pint-sized Auzzie starlet? Not likely, especially considering Mathew Horne has already had an encounter with Kylie. In 2007 he appeared in comedy sketches in The Kylie Show, playing her assistant. Kylie has said that she is 'delighted to be hosting this year’s event.'
'I am a great fan of my co-hosts Mathew Horne and James Corden and I’m sure we will all be in for a night of great fun, great drama and most importantly great music.’
The combination of live TV and the BRITs presenter’s legacy means anything can happen on the show – could Corden and Horne add the touch of uncertainty and potential controversial meltdown we all secretly hope for when watching the BRITs?
The 2009 BRIT Awards will be televised on ITV1 live from Earl's Court on Wednesday 18th February. Performers announced so far are Pet Shop Boys, U2, Kings of Leon, Duffy, Girls Aloud, Coldplay, Take That, Estelle and the Ting Tings.
