Award winning journalist and political speaker, John Sergeant, has become an Honorary Doctorate of Letters at the University of Lincoln.
John received his degree during a special ceremony held at Lincoln Cathedral. His impressive career has so far involved a position as the Political Editor of ITN from 2000-2002 and he worked as the BBC’s Chief Political Correspondent from 1992-2000.
John was delighted to receive his degree, saying “I’m thrilled to bits. I'm flattered to receive this honorary doctorate especially as I come from such an academic family.” He also spoke about future opportunities for fellow graduates, stating "People say the golden age is over but I disagree. I would say the golden age is not over – it's at their feet."
