June is here and along with Wimbledon comes the music festival; the annual rebirthing of music where fans, go-ers and dancers collect in a field somewhere and connect with the band, the rustic surrounds, the mud, the sun (hopefully) and the sky in degrees of pure and/or assisted spirituality.
To prove this point, a total of thirteen festivals of song start this weekend including:
Let's Rock Bristol; Boom Bap Festival (Hip-hop) in the hood: West Row, Suffolk; Bourne Festival (of Music & Beer); Heart of Rock & Blues Festival down near the River Wye delta; The Cottier Chamber Project up in Glasgow celebrating all things Jazz (in the West End of course); The Lunar Festival in other-worldly Arden Warickshire; Beat n Sol Presents Mind the charity down in Kent; Three Friday Nights starting tonight with 2manydjs down at racey Goodwood; Vann Vest - not to do with Transits or Halen's sadly - down in Surrey; Fort Jester who are partying in the pines in Lincs; Valleys Soundfest festing it soundwise in Rhondda Cynon Taff; Forged Festival (of Tributing) in Barnstaple and lastly....Something to Smile About in Docaster!
The following week sees the major festivals arrive with the Isle of Wight, with King or Queen of them all, Glastonbury, kicking off later this month on the 24 June. With so many more inbetween and after ensures that for those who welcome the variables of British weather; not bathing for a few days while subsisting on fastfood van cuisine your 21st Century Age of Aquarius is here!
