Hollywood actor, Kevin Spacey will be this year’s speaker at the prestigious James MacTaggart Memorial Lecture at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Kevin has recently starred in the new television series, ‘House of Cards’ and in his speech he will be discussing the shift in viewers’ consumption of entertainment from traditional broadcasters to online.
Speaking about his up and coming speech, Kevin said “As a newcomer to the television industry I am honoured to be invited to give the MacTaggart Lecture. Clearly this has been an exciting period for me personally but also I believe this is a time of huge opportunity, innovation and creativity for all of us who live to tell stories and engage audiences.”
The MacTaggart Lecture is given each year by influential speakers and previous speakers include, Eric Schmidt, Jeremy Paxman, Greg Dyke and this year’s lecturer will not disappoint. Edinburgh’s exec festival chair Elaine Bedell said “I’m thrilled that Kevin Spacey has agreed to deliver this year’s MacTaggart-it confirms the Edinburgh International Television Festival as the industry’s most important event of the year.”
The Edinburgh TV festival takes place from the 22nd to the 24th of August.
