The line-up for the Leicester Comedy Festival 2014 has been announced and it is the 21st anniversary of the annual event.
The Leicester festival takes place over 17 days and will produce 650 events in that time, there will be special sessions held by Alexei Sayle and Jason Manford, who will look back on his comedy career from when he first began.
The festival will include a competition for the older comedians, which will be called the ‘Silver Stand Up’ as well as the ‘UK Pun Championships’, it will also be sponsored by the comedy TV channel, Dave.
This year’s stand up acts include some well known names including Sean Hughes, Russell Kane, Richard Herring and Rich Hall to name a few. The founder of the festival, Geoff Rowe stated ‘Our 2014 festival is going to reinforce Leicester’s position as UK city of comedy. We’ve worked hard to ensure our 21st year is packed full of top stand ups and unique events, which you simply can’t see anywhere else.’
Leicester Cathedral will be putting on a gala show throughout the 17days of the festival, which will celebrate ‘the comedy song, including Noel Coward, Spitting Image, and Monty Python.’
The festival will take place from the 7th-23rd of February 2014.
