The Science Festival 2012 will take place from the 4th-9th of June, the festival aims to get people to ask questions and this year will have some of the world’s most accomplished thinkers attempting to answer the biggest questions that exist in science.

The festival is also a fun day out for people who have an interest in hands on activities, scientific debates and seeing some of the world’s best scientists in action. Famous scientist and TV Presenter, Brian Cox, described the festival as the country’s ‘premier science festival’.

The line up includes comedian and awards host Dara O’Briain who will be interviewing the physicist Peter Higgs, meanwhile Dame Wendy Hall will be discussing how the internet has changed society and will continue to do so. Debates will take place between festival favourites including Alice Roberts, Jim Al-Khalili, Mark Miodownik, Robin Ince and Professor Marcus du Sautoy.

The festival offers a great day out for people of all ages and those who attend the festival will also be able to try out the latest technology, explore the criminal mind as well as Shakespeare’s medical cabinet. Other fun activities include meeting winged predators and sniffer dogs, audiences will be able to discover more about disturbed sleep, stem cells, great comets and how to survive a Tsunami.

The festival director Mark Lythgoe is ecstatic about this year’s line up and the events taking place, he said “We’ll be hosting some of our most inspiring and interesting events yet. We’ll be exploring some of the last century’s landmark scientific discoveries with big scientific thinkers, and looking to the future with a focus on cutting-edge research.”
