World Cup winner, and motivational speaker, Matt Dawson is to present a series of special rugby preview shows, with top name guests during the RBS Six Nations tournament on BBC Radio 5 Live, in addition to reprising his role as expert summariser for all England matches.
Matt will also present two special rugby editions of 5 Live's famous sporting phone-in, 606 – these and the preview shows will be available to download after broadcast at www.bbc.co.uk/5live.
The world's most successful rugby tournament will resume in earnest as the 2009 Six Nations gets under way on 7 February. Now in its 10th season since the old Five Nations became Six, Wales will be defending the title they won with a Grand Slam last year, their second in four years.
So will Wales be celebrating again come Saturday, 21 March, the final day of this year's championship? Can England recover from a sobering autumn? Will Ireland regain their old spark? Can Scotland convert promise into real progress? Or will Italy - who joined the party in 2000 - confound expectations?
Wales are quite rightly the favourites to win the tournament, not just because of their superb Six Nations last year but their performances in the autumn, where the 21-18 victory over Australia was the only Tri-Nations scalp by a northern hemisphere side last November. They also fared well against the All Blacks and should have beaten the world champion Springboks.
The Welsh coach Warren Gatland says Wales now have to "embrace the challenge" of being favourites. "If we want to be one of the best teams in the world, it is not going to be unusual," he says.
In such a short, condensed tournament, consistency and momentum are vital, so with the teams pretty evenly matched, the championship title could be anyone's.
The first set of matches starts this weekend with England versus Italy at Twickenham, Ireland versus France at Croke Park and Scotland versus Wales at Murrayfield.
