Omid Djalili will star in a new West End production of Joe Orton’s comedy What the Butler Saw. This will follow the comedian’s major stand-up tour, and will take the stage at London’s Vaudeville Theatre.
Djalili plays Dr Rance, a government inspector who calls at a psychiatric Clinic just in the midst of a sexual farce.
Directed by Sean Foley, whose credits include the Morecambe and Wise tribute The Play What I Wrote, the play was Orton’s last, and was completed a month before his 1967 death and was first staged in London at the Queen’s Theatre in 1969 with Ralph Richardson in the role of Dr Rance.
