Patrick Kielty to host new topical standup show on Channel 4

25th June 2010

The new six-part show, hosted by Patrick Kielty which starts tonight on Channel 4 is described as "no holds barred", and will air on Friday nights at 11pm with regular standups including Rich Hall, Jack Whitehall, Andi Osho and Kevin Bridges.

Channel 4 has returned to the format, which has its roots in The 11 O'Clock Show which helped propel the careers of Sacha Baron Cohen and Ricky Gervais, following the surprise success of the broadcaster's comedy-themed alternative election night coverage in May.

This new series, is being filmed at Koko in Camden, and will look at the week's politics, sport and celebrity news with the first show to air tonight - 25 June. Each week a topical public figure will also be put on the spot.

Channel 4 promises the show to be a "late night, edgy and on the knuckle satirical take on the big stories and big themes of the week" and be "outrageously alternative".

Jack Whitehall, Andi Osho have previously featured in Tonightly while Rich Hall appeared in Channel 4's alternative election night coverage.
