A Brian Blessed fan, Richard Gardner, started a Facebook campaign asking the satellite navigation company, TomTom, to include Brian Blessed as one of their voices on the system. Brian would be joining the likes of John Cleese in being a 'voice of directions'
After initially rejecting the overtures, the good sports that Tom Tom are, agreed that if Richard raised 25000 signatures on a petition, they would speak to Brian about the proposal. Through the power of social networking and Facebook in particular, Richard and his band of co-conspirators successfully gathered a network of over 25,000 people. Tom Tom were suitably impressed and started speaking to Brian Blessed - the latest news is that Brian is currently recording for TomTom.
