Daubed with glitter and striking a flirtatious pose, this is Countdown's new resident maths expert, 22-year-old, Rachel Riley is ready to step into Carol Vorderman's shoes.
In 2004, she achieved straight A grades at A-level in maths, further maths, physics and French. But she was also a sporting star - representing her school in hockey, netball, and cross-country running, and winning trophies in athletics.
Rachel admitted to being a huge fan of the Channel 4 show before landing the role. 'This is the best graduate job in the world,' she added. 'There's only one cool maths job around and I was lucky enough to get it, so I'm absolutely thrilled.'
Carol Vorderman, 47, is leaving Countdown after 26 years. Her final show will be broadcast on December 12. Host Des O'Connor has also decided to call it a day and will be replaced by Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling.
