SEAFOOD Week 2007 is set to be a major success with organisers, reporting the best ever industry support since the campaign started in 2000.
Businesses from across the whole seafood industry have signed up, joining a long list of chefs and celebrities, keen to pledge their support for the week. The theme for this year’s Seafood Week is ‘celebrating the seafood industry in the UK’. There will be daily celebrity recipes and top tips showing how easy it can be to eat the recommended two portions a week and encouraging consumers to buy seafood from sustainable sources.
A host of celebrities and chefs have added their names to the list of supporters including Nell McAndrew, Gabby Logan, Annabel Karmel, Aldo Zilli, Mitch Tonks, Antony Worrall Thompson, Anton Mosimann, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Rick Stein.
The list of organisations participating in Seafood Week is growing daily as the launch on October 5 approaches. ASDA, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, the five Seafood Week supermarket partners, are all holding promotions throughout their UK stores including tastings and special events.
