Richard McCann, Sunday Times No. 1 bestselling author and adept keynote speaker, was given the honour of carrying the Olympic torch in his home town of Leeds.
McCann has been an inspiration to many. After losing his mother at the age of 5, which was followed by a childhood in one foster home after another, he overcame every obstacle thrown at him to achieve enormous success.
A large crowd gathered to watch McCann, who was honoured to be nominated to bear the torch and claimed he would never forget the day. McCann carried the torch in memory of his mother, and his sister.
