This year’s Sunday Times Festival of Education welcomes almost 150 speakers of the highest calibre, including some of Speakers Corner’s elite - Robert Winston, Niall Ferguson, Hamish McRae and David Rowan. Ranging from former government ministers, scientists and headteachers to academics, journalists and chief executives, all with experience, knowledge and opinions that should enrich, broaden and deepen debates about education.
Professor Robert Winston is one of Britain's most distinguished scientists, and a highly regarded keynote speaker; Niall Ferguson is one of Britain's most controversial and well known historians, and is one of Speakers Corner’s top talents; Hamish McRae is associate editor of The Independent and chief economic commentator for The Independent on Sunday, and David Rowan is editor of Wired Magazine.
Other highlights at the festival include Bob Geldof – campaigner, businessman and rock star; David Starkey - renowned historian and TV personality; Sir Terry Leahy – ex-Chief Executive of Tesco; Tanya Byron - consultant clinical psychologist, author and broadcaster; Rod Liddle - controversial newspaper columnist and associate editor of The Spectator; Harvey Goldsmith - producer and promoter and Dr Gervase Phinn - a former school inspector turned comedian.
