In a brand new series, entrepreneur and property developer, Sarah Beeny follows six communities aiming to breathe life back into their area, with the aid of a six-figure grant from the Big Lottery Fund and an army of volunteers.
Village SOS is a joint venture between the BBC and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).
With so many rural communities struggling for survival during the economic downturn, the project sought out villages with ideas for a brilliant rural business that had the potential to revitalise communities that had watched as their amenities slowly drained away – shops closed, bus services were withdrawn, pubs called time and schools and Post Offices shut their doors.
The first episode, which will air on Wednesday 10th August, begins in Talgarth near Brecon, following the residents over the course of one year as they restore a crumbling water mill to working order, creating a bakery and cafe on site.
You can catch the first episode of Village SOS on Wednesday 10th August at 8pm on BBC One.
