Financial journalist and TV presenter, Sarah Pennells, tells shoppers how they can save some money when buying goods online.
Sarah advises online shoppers that although shopping online can seem like an easy, cheaper option, if the site is unknown it is more important that they use a local shop that they can rely on. She also points out that shoppers should look out for a gold padlock at the top of their screen, along with an internet address that begins ‘https’, as the‘s’ stands for secure. This is in order to protect users from fraud.
Sarah’s other tips include looking for a physical address of the company instead of a PO box, taking their telephone number because emails can be easily ignored and only paying a deposit by card, which means that if the goods do not arrive or the company goes bust the shopper can make a claim against their credit card provider.
