Motivational speaker and former England cricketer, Ian Botham, is going to walk 160km across Sri Lanka for charity.
The eight day walk has been dubbed ‘Beefy’s Big Sri Lanka Walk’ and was arranged to raise funds for those affected by the 30 year war in Sri Lanka.
Ian has been walking for charity since 1985 when he first pledged to raise millions for people suffering from blood cancers, he stated “It’s going to be like nothing I have ever attempted before and it’s going to be my most demanding.”
Each day of the walk, Ian will be joined by fellow cricketers including Shane Warne, Michael Vaughan, Sourav Ganguly, Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Ian first visited Sri Lanka in 2005, after the Asian Tsunami and has since devoted much of his time towards raising money for Tsunami related charities.
His 160km walk will raise money for projects supported by the Laureus Sports Foundation for Goodness.
