The Friday Download gets the Movie Treatment

News from Chortle.co.uk reports that David Mitchell and Marcus Brigstocke have landed a role, along with Kevin Eldon, in The Friday Download Movie. The movie is a spin-off of the CBBC series which collates news from the week on dance, style, music, gaming, gadgets, film and TV. Outnumbered's Tyger Drew-Honey, a former presenter of the teenage magazine show, also returns for what's described as 'a PG family romp, live action Scooby Doo-esque adventure'. It is being currently filmed in Swansea.

The Revolution Will Be Televised Returns – US Style

Bafta award winning BBC3 programme: The Revolution Will Be Televised, returns for a third series next month with new pranks being filmed in the USA. The programme is a montage of satirical pranks and sketches carried out by Heydon Prowse and Joylan Rubinstein to "fight back" against "a world full of hypocrisy, corruption and greed.The British Comedy Guide reports that “targets throughout the third series include Gordon Brown, Google, Nando's, Samuel L Jackson, Donald Trump, Theresa May, Wonga, gun lovers, Bill Clinton, Sarah Palin, and "the whole of Las Vegas".

Executive Producer Mark Talbot said of the upcoming series “It’s brilliant to be back with a third series and the US element has raised the bar. It’s surprising, shocking, and funny – and I’m not talking about the fact no one got shot. We’ve also got some brilliant UK hits in there – sorry Vince Cable, again...”

The Greenwich Comedy Festival – Now until this Sunday 28th September.

London’s Greenwich Comedy Festival is on this week until this Sunday the 28th September. Set in the grounds of the National Maritime Museum (assume covered) and now in its 6th year it is gaining momentum becoming one of the capital’s best festivals. Spectacular all-headline bills in the big- and little-top tents take place throughout the week, with names including Stewart Lee, Ardal O’Hanlon, Milton Jones, Stewart Francis, David O’Doherty, Nina Conti and many more heading to SE10. Is it True? Vince Vaughan joins cast of True Detective.

Good news from America with regards to final casting decisions for the two main characters in hit crime drama True Detectives. Following on from the success of the first series with Hollywood heavy weights Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson it was announced earlier this week that Colin Farrell had been agreed for one of the parts. Later this week it was announced that comic actor Vince Vaughan was also confirmed. In what some considered a departure for Vaughan venturing into ‘serious’ acting it has been generally welcomed. He will be playing  will play Frank Seymon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”
