We were back again at the hip and current: Square Meal Venues & Events Live, this week along with providing speakers Dan Germain (Innocent Drinks) and customer services professional Linda Moir (ex BA, Virgin and Head of Event Services at London 2012) for the seminar programme. Manager of Speakers Corner Tim Gold, who was there for both days, hailed the event ‘a great success’.
Having a stand at the event, the only speaker bureau to do so, our own Debbie Price, who joined Tim yesterday, said it was ‘a great opportunity to put faces to existing clients while also meeting new ones’ adding that business wise it is very productive saying ‘we took a good number of briefs for new work at the event itself’.
Like last year we provided the speakers to speak at the event: Dan Germain was there to share the Innocent story with the audience and the innovative ways they went about starting, and continue to run, the business and Linda Moir who is a customer service professional.
Linda’s credentials speak for themselves, she headed up not only BA’s cabin crew services but Virgin Atlantic’s too, who then went on to develop and run the volunteer programme, aka Games Makers, at the London Olympics.
Our new Speakers Corner account management addition Lucy Baily, who saw Linda for the first time, said ‘her speech was full of examples of good customer service drawn from her incredible career. This was done in a friendly, insightful and fun way reinforcing the very principles of good customer service’. Linda herself praised the event and the audience for their questions saying that ‘good customer service skills easily translate to event management where service in the lead up the event, during and after can differentiate you from your competitors’.
Every year we provide a selection of chocolate treats at our stand, which remains a tried and trusted business development tool. This year we managed to get through 20 boxes over two days which is a bit of a record. So 'here, there & everywhere' it turned out to be a very successful event and we look forward to the next.
