Business speaker and economist, Stephanie Flanders, has decided to take on a new challenge and will be leaving the BBC to join JP Morgan Asset Management.
Stephanie will stop working as economics editor immediately but she will still be presenting her Radio 4 show ‘Start the Week’ up until she starts her new job in November. She will be taking on the role of chief market strategist for the UK and Europe for JP Morgan, allowing her to grasp a deeper understanding of the markets.
Stephanie has been with the BBC for eleven years and has worked on Newsnight, presented TV and Radio, including her ‘Stephanomics’ series on Radio 4. Speaking about her move to JP Morgan, Stephanie stated “I've had an incredibly rewarding time at the BBC. I'll always be grateful for the chance to report on the economy at such an important time. I'll also be helping to grow a business. That's something I've never done before.”
The BBC’s director of news, James Harding said that Stephanie would be missed at the BBC; “Stephanie has given our audience unrivalled coverage of the economy - the most important story in Britain in recent years. She has done it with intelligence, understanding and good judgement. She will be sorely missed by all of us.”
