Thus there will be a variety of speakers to suit varying audiences.
There will be free events that the public can attend, including workshops, talks for kids, and talks in bars, bookshops, in churches and in pubs; there will even be an appearance from Paddington Bear for kids to enjoy. The literary festival will also have music from Sonic Youth legend, Thurston Moore, who will be jamming with some of the local musicians at a small gig.
The festival draws upon the importance of the community and celebrates it literary past and present and it’s self of identity. Other highlights of the festival involve Turkish author Elif Shalik talking about story-telling and its role in family relationships and journalist Harry Wallop alongside author Andrew Simms, speaking about issues surrounding Stoke Newington’s fight to prevent the invasion of big corporate brands over local shops.
