Sports speaker Susie Wolff made Formula 1 history last week when she became the first female to compete in an official Formula 1 session for 22 years.
Susie is Williams reserve and she was given Valtteri Bottas' car for the opening Friday practice session at the British and German races. Her first outing was not as successful as she would have hoped as she had to stop due to mechanical problems. However her second race at Hockenheim was more successful and she completed the 22 laps.
Susie admitted recently that getting a Williams seat was not realistic and she stated that ‘given the performances of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Botas…that is not realistic.’ Susie is doing a great job at promoting the sport to women, considering it is generally thought of as a man’s sport.
