The Sportswoman of the Year Awards

3 December 2013

The 2013 Sunday Times and Sky Sports Sportswoman of the Year Awards will take place this week and the public can now vote to decide their favourite sportswoman from 2013.

The annual awards take place to acknowledge the fantastic achievements of British sportswomen and also the coaches, administrators and community volunteers. The awards are broadcast live on Sky Sports and have become more established over the last few years.

The Sunday Times sports editor, Alex Butler stated ‘Sportswomen don’t get enough coverage in the national newspapers... The achievements of British women in sport in 2013 have been phenomenal. Over the coming months - in print in The Sunday Times and on air with Sky Sports - we will celebrate those achievements.’

Talented sportswomen who have won the award in the past include Sally Gunnell, Dame Kelly Holmes , Paula Radcliffe, Zara Phillips, Victoria Pendleton and last year’s winner was Jessica Ennis. These women have achieved great sporting success and are admired by the British public.

The awards are supported by the Sport and Recreation Alliance, Sport England, UK Sport and the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation. The awards will take place on the 5th of December.
