Two decades ago Jayne Torvil and Christopher Dean skated to a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. 24 million viewers were glued to their televisions on that Valentine's Day as Torvil & Dean broke the traditional rules of competition ice dancing and scored 12 perfect sixes, including all nine for artistic impression. And now they are back in a new reality TV programme.
With their expertise, the celebrities will be transformed into ice skating champions in the new ITV series, ‘Dancing On Ice’.
Torvil and Dean will be pitted against each other as they take five celebrities each to train and encourage the aspiring skaters including Olympic gold medallist Kelly Holmes to create a wining team.
Ex-England goalkeeper David Seaman and presenter Andi Peters will also be joining in the fun along with former It girl Tamara Beckwith, dancer Bonnie Langford and GMTV's Andrea McLean.
Broadway and West End star John Barrowman, Corrie's Sean Wilson, Fat Friends actress Gaynor Faye and The Bill's Stefan Booth have also been preparing to wow audiences with their new skating moves.
Torvill and Dean's last performance together was in 1998 - shortly before they announced their retirement and Jayne revealed she is thrilled to be back working with her skating partner:
"It's great working together again. We danced every day for 25 years so to get back together after almost a decade it just brilliant.
"We just fit so well together."
