The Orchestra got together back in 1985 and their first show was a sell out, they have been performing in front of audiences ever since. After a few years of performing they had already made an appearance on the BBC, played at WOMAD and recorded a session on BBC Radio 1. The group has now been together for over two decades and they have been lucky enough to perform in countries all over the world such as Poland, France, America, Canada, New Zealand and many more.
The Ukulele Orchestra started a trend and there has been a boost in Ukulele groups forming since they first came on the scene, groups can now be found in most major cities around the UK. The Ukulele Orchestra’s music has been used in films, plays and on television commercials. There concerts have been hugely popular all over the world and many of them have been sold out, the orchestra has also performed in London’s world famous jazz bar, Ronnie Scots.
The group have also performed at well-known festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Chicago Chamber Music Festival, The Big Chill and The Edinburgh Festival. They have also made appearances on ‘Blue Peter’, Richard and Judy’ and Radio 4’s ‘Loose Ends’.
