Another year has passed. Onto the next!
I’m Nick Gold, MD of Speakers Corner, and before we dive into the next year, I wanted send you all a festive note, firstly to thank you for being a part of our (almost 15-year old!) journey, and also to share some insights on who we've become as a business.
My brother Tim and I hope that our team enjoy the ‘delights’ of having two Golds in charge of the company since we became owners and business partners six years ago. We continue to believe in the family values of Speakers Corner today and have spent some significant time looking at what we do as a business, as well as at the industry as a whole.
As I look back over 2015 and reflect on what we have achieved, I take great pleasure in the fact that, as a team, we really understand our vision as a company and the service we provide. Over time, Tim and I realised that our value to our clients is not in knowing ‘how to get hold of’ speakers, but in the independent and impartial guidance we can provide about who the right one is for their event.

Understanding whom our clients are—event organisers and conference planners—and that our speakers and artistes are our product has been invaluable for moving forward. We firmly believe that the ‘live’ experience, and the roles of speakers, hosts and facilitators are being increasingly recognised by organisers as critical to the success of an event or conference.
As a leader in the marketplace, we actively promote this message as much as we can. We enjoy our role in growing the industry, strengthened by my position as chairman of the European Association of Speaker Bureaux, and I look forward to the exciting showcases and other interesting opportunities we have planned for 2016 in order to continue this.
The team as a whole will continue to strive to deliver exceptional service to clients from the first contact to after the event, and we welcome to the team a few new faces who will bring their own unique personalities and practices to challenge and strengthen Speakers Corner as we continue to improve and grow.
I also look forward to the speaker industry continuing to mature (check out some trends here), and the Association and the ethics that the members have signed on to means that the industry gains greater exposure and understanding from the wider events industry.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a lovely peaceful and restful festive season. I will be spending it at home with my family, although I am delighted to say that Tim is going away so, at least for a few days, he has a break from me.
Here's to another great year!
