...Tour de France, Tour de France (2016)

In Sports  news and away from any mention of the word 'exit' and its related nouns, the Tour de France got underway over the weekend with Stage 1 covering nearly 117 miles from Mont-Saint-Michel - Utah Beach.

British cyclist, Mark Cavendish, took the yellow jersey on Saturday with Slovak Peter Sagan winning Stage 2 the following day. With still nearly three weeks the Tour de France riders will each cover a staggering 3,519km (2186.60 miles).

The 103rd Tour de France will, this year, visit the three neighbouring countries of Spain, Andorra and Switzerland. The 21 stages of the 2016 Tour comprise nine flat stages, one hilly stage, nine mountain stages - including four summit finishes - and two individual time trials. Last year, Chris Froome became the first British rider to win two Tour de France. This year Chris attempting a historic third win putting him the rarified company of just seven riders who achieved this feat.
