The 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony has been nominated for a Bafta and will be up against hit TV shows such as ‘Homeland’ and ‘The Great British Bake Off’ in a public vote.
The other shows competing for the Radio Times audio title include ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Game of Thrones’, all of which offer a different type of entertainment. The Chief Executive of Bafta, Amanda Berry commented on the shortlist, saying that it ‘reflects the increasing diversity of tastes among British viewers’.
All the shows nominated for the event have been highly popular among viewers; therefore it is completely up to the public to decide which one will take home the award.
Ben Preston, Editor of the Radio Times stated ‘It’s a shortlist which perfectly captures a simply sensational television year’.
