T in the Park 2015

10 July 2015

T in the Park kicks off today at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire, with acts including Kasabian, Avicci & Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds occupying the main stage over the next 3 nights.

The 3 day event moved from its previous home at a disused airfield at Balado, Kinross-shire to Strathallan Castle, Perthshire this year due to safety concerns being raised regarding an underground oil pipeline running under the site. Although the move was met with some resistance from locals the council were keen to keep the festival in the area and planning permission was granted, said Perth & Kinross Council,  “following extensive consultation with statutory and non-statutory stakeholders and after taking account of all letters of representation”.

It ensures that main sponsor, Tennents, can continue – as The Scottish Herald previously reported – brew the beer sold there 44 miles away, 36 hours before the event, providing nourishment to festival go-ers with ‘more than 3 million pints of lager have been consumed at the festival since 1994’.

With the Met Office predicting light rain with sunny spells ensures this festival, like the others, will get their fare share of mud and sludge which hopefully will not damped down the festival spirit too much.
