The architect of Britain's greatest rugby achievement, Sir Clive Woodward earned international acclaim and a knighthood after he led England's players to World Cup glory in Australia in 2003.
A highly sought-after keynote speaker, Clive’s approach to winning has captured the imagination of both the sporting and corporate worlds.
Clive gave an inspired and inspiring talk on a range of very helpful and appropriate areas relevant to headteachers. He was excellent! Feedback from delegates was very high!
He draws on his experience as a World Cup-winning Head Coach, as Director of Sport for Team GB at the British Olympic Association for the London 2012 Olympics, and as Founding Partner and Chairman of Captured (an online coaching software and synchronised app based on his coaching philosophy).
A former England International and British & Irish Lion himself, Clive immediately made his mark as Head Coach by introducing basic business principles, including setting long-term goals, attention to detail, and focusing on the personal development of individuals. During his tenure, England moved from 6th to the number 1-ranked team in the world, winning every trophy an England team can win.
In 2006, Clive joined the British Olympic Association. As Team GB’s Director of Sport he worked in close partnership with key stakeholders in British Sport to support the national coaches and athletes at the Beijing & Vancouver Olympics as well as deliver Team GB’s most successful Olympic Games in the modern era at London 2012.
Clive is ideally placed to explain the common thread between business and sport: he communicates the importance of thinking clearly under pressure and draws parallels between the structures of high-performance teams in both worlds.
As a member of the IOC’s Entourage Committee, Clive continues to support athlete and coach development. He is one of the initial members of the Entourage Commission (dedicated to supporting all aspects of an athlete’s development) and has been a member for the last 4 years.
Clive is a respected commentator for BBC Sport, ITV Sport and SKY Sports’ rugby coverage, and writes as a member of The Daily Mail’s award-winning sports team.
Developed in partnership with Blenheim Chalcot and Google, his app - Captured - aims to capture and share knowledge in order to achieve high-performing individuals and teams. While the app enables any coach or athlete to adopt the method Clive initially developed with England Rugby, international sporting bodies such as The FA and The PGA are also utilising tool – the IOC made the software available to every athlete and coach at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
He is also Director of Sport for the Alpine Centre of Excellence (APEX2100), a high altitude performance centre being developed at 2100m in Tignes, France.

What people said about Clive Woodward
The overall 2 day conference was a huge success & we have had outstanding feedback on Clive session. It was 100% spot on in terms of tone, appropriateness for the audience, examples & actionable next steps for everyone to take out. I have had fantastic feedback from the leadership team, and anecdotal feedback from delegates has been great as well. We do a full follow up survey, and as soon as I get the score / formal feedback I will share this with you. Many thanks for the time invested up front to get the briefing right, I believe this really helped ensure that the session was a success.
Clive was very professional and tailored his presentation to the audience and nature of the event. He was very well prepared and was well received by the audience. He went above and beyond our expectations and we would definitely recommend him for future events.
Thank you very much for presenting at our Senior Leadership meeting...and helping to make it a memorable and highly-productive event...your presentation was one of the best examples I've seen in demonstrating how building a successful team in business or sport requires similar strategies...the feedback from those attending has been excellent.
He was a great speaker and kept the audience engaged the whole time he spoke. I have never seen 100 managers so quiet and totally engaged for an hour! He was very motivational and a great story teller. The round of applause at the end said it all! The key message that Clive delivered was very closely matched to our key values!
Very relevant to the audience. Good mix of video, slides and speaking. Great timing to have him speak during the World Cup. He had good banter on stage with the host for the evening.
I have probably been part of around 15-20 sales conferences over the last 7 years, and I can honestly say he was the single best speaker we have ever had. I was nervous about how well he would resonate as only 30% of the team were English, another 40% were from mainland Europe with the rest being from Asia, Latin America and the USA - and I have never had such great feedback from all groups - people who had never even heard of rugby but who understood his concepts and the way he linked it to his personal experience was fantastic.
Clive was very easy to deal with and the whole thing was very professional.
Warm, human! Great speaker. The content was a perfect fit Analytics in Sport vs. Analytics in Business. He asked lots of good questions beforehand to ensure he referenced relevant Oracle pieces. Our audience loved him and it was a great intro to the day.
We much appreciated him taking the time to see the school on the same day. In addition he came over as very intelligent and a good presenter and Sir Clive did make time available for people for signatures and photos etc which was also a great hit!
