Jo Brand Biography

Born in Kent, Jo's first job was at Dr Barnardo's home, following in the footsteps of her mother, a social worker. After this, she moved to London and became a psychiatric nurse. Dealing on a daily basis with drug addicts, alcohol abuse and the clinically depressed, it was her sense of humour that kept her going

Since leaving her job as a psychiatric nurse in 1987, Jo has built a large following across the UK, male and female alike. She was nominated for the Perrier Award in 1992. 

Her diverse appeal is marked by appearances on such eclectic programmes as "Question Time" (BBC) to "Nevermind the Buzzcocks" and "Countdown" to "They Think It's All Over". She presented "Jo Brand's Commercial Breakdown" and her series,...
