The highlights of his career include winning the International F3000 championship in 1998, and the CART FedEx Championship Series in 1999. Juan can also boast of victories in some of the most prestigious races in the world, including the Indianapolis 500 (2000, 2015), Grand Prix of Monaco (2003), 24 Hours of Daytona (2007, 2008, 2013), British Grand Prix (2005), Italian Grand Prix (2001, 2005), Grand Prix of Long Beach (1999), and the Race of Champions (2017).

In motorsport racing his talents are truly unparalleled, he won the first attempt the premier North American open-wheel CART Championship title, Indianapolis 500, 24 Hours of Daytona, Grand Prix of Long Beach, Italian Grand Prix, and the cross over Race of Champions. Juan is one of two drivers to have won the CART title in his rookie year, the first being Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell in 1993.
