The World Today presenter on the BBC, Naga Munchetty is a news broadcast journalist with a specialist interest in financial and economic matters. Naga regularly covers for George Alagiah and is a regular stand-in on BBC Breakfast and she co-presented BBC's Working Lunch. Naga was a maths boffin at school, but unusually nurtured a parallel love of writing – which led to her studying English literature and Language at Leeds University. Naga’s post-Leeds path took her to London to a postgraduate degree in Newspaper journalism and then into her first job with the City Pages of the Evening Standard and regular contributions to the Business Section of The Observer.
Reporting for Reuters Financial Television, and then moving to CNBC Europe as a Senior Producer, Naga’s breakthrough came when she was offered the job of Business Producer and Reporter for Channel 4 News.
Moving to Bloomberg, she began to specialise in economic stories, and found her niche guiding viewers through the start of the credit crunch; the collapse of Northern Rock and the economic downturn that followed. She became known for her hard hitting interviews with bankers, Chief Executives and Fund Managers, and hosted live forums and interviews for both Bloomberg and the BBC.
Naga stunned viewers on Celebrity Mastermind with her knowledge of golf and passion for the sport.
