Andrew Neil is one of the UK’s most experienced political journalists and broadcasters, recognised for his sharp intellect, rigorous interview style, and deep understanding of national and international affairs. Over a distinguished career spanning print, television, and digital media, he has held a series of senior editorial and executive roles and continues to contribute widely to political debate and analysis.

Andrew began his career in print journalism, becoming UK Editor of The Economist and later serving as its correspondent in Washington, New York, and Westminster. His early work included reporting on the White House and Wall Street, giving him a strong foundation in both political and economic journalism.

He went on to become Editor of The Sunday Times, where he led the paper through a period of major editorial and commercial growth. During this time, he also served as Executive Chairman of Sky Television, where he was instrumental in launching Britain’s first multi-channel satellite TV platform. Under his leadership, Sky News was created and the UK audience was introduced to The Simpsons. Today, Sky is one of the most successful media companies in Europe, valued at over £15 billion.

In broadcasting, Andrew has long been known as a formidable interviewer. Through programmes such as Daily Politics, This Week, and various election specials for the BBC, he earned a reputation as one of the most challenging political interviewers on television. The Times described him as “the ultimate test for assessing whether a party leader was fit to be Prime Minister,” and Members of Parliament have voted him the best political journalist in the country.

In recent years, Andrew has continued his broadcasting work on Channel 4 and Times Radio, while also writing regular opinion columns for the Daily Mail in both the UK and the US. He remains a trusted and high-profile voice on political developments, both domestic and international.

Andrew’s career has combined journalism, broadcasting, and leadership in media innovation. His wide-ranging experience—from frontline reporting to launching new media ventures—gives him a unique perspective on politics, business, and the role of the media in shaping public understanding.

Whether addressing an audience of business leaders, policy professionals or the wider public, Andrew brings clarity, authority and insight to today’s most pressing issues.
