An influential economist on the international stage, her career has spanned Europe, the United States, Russia, the Middle East and Africa.

Published in several countries, Noreena’s best-selling books ‘Eyes Wide Open: How to Make Smart Decisions in a Confusing World’ (2013), ‘IOU: The Debt Threat’ (2004) and ‘The Silent Takeover’ (2003) are examples of her own prescient thinking.

In ‘The Debt Threat’, she predicted the 2008 financial crisis, and, in ‘The Silent Takeover’, she anticipated that unregulated markets and massive financial institutions would have serious global repercussions.

Noreena graduated from university at 19 and, by the age of 23, was advising the Russian government on its economic reforms and investors on M&A transactions. When she turned 29, she was working with the governments of Israel, Egypt, Palestine, and Jordan on the Middle East Peace Process.

Known for succinctly expressing her visionary ideas, Noreena was described by the Observer as ‘one of the world’s leading young thinkers’ and Vogue as ‘one of the world’s most inspiring women’.

Noreena has a PhD from Cambridge University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is Visiting Professor at University College London. She has held professorships at Erasmus University and Utrecht University and fellowships at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics.

She served as a member of Citigroup’s Politics and Economics Global Advisory Board between 2007 and 2008, and as a member of the Advisory Group steering McKinsey CEO Dominic Barton’s Inclusive Capitalism Taskforce between 2012 and 2013. From 2014 to 2016, she served on the Board of Warner Music Group.

Noreena’s insights are much sought after on leading current affairs, politics and economics television and radio programmes, and she frequently appears on such flagship programmes as Newsnight and Question Time. She has been interviewed on shows such as the US’s Charlie Rose and Sky’s Hard Talk, as well as equivalent programmes in Europe and Asia.

She has given keynote speeches at TED and The World Economic Forum, as well as for leading global corporations, and has shared platforms with such luminaries as President Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Ken Robinson. Her work was the inspiration for Bono’s (RED) campaign.

Her speaking topics include:

- Generation K
